7 - D.E.L.F - Diplôme d'Etudes en Langue Française
Preparation and entry for the examination of the D.E.L.F.
Required level: 4 to 6 years of school French, or equivalent.
30 lessons per week - Size: 4-10 students per class Duration:
8 weeks : preparation and entry for unit 1 to 4. DELF
1st degree. 12 weeks : preparation and entry for
unit 1 to 6. DELF diploma. At the moment, the D.E.L.F.
is the only diploma of French as a foreign language which
is officially recognised by the French Ministry of Education.
It has been accepted by more than 50 countries and is widely
recognised by administrations and firms.
The D.E.L.F. comprises 6 capitalizable units approving an
advanced level of competence, oral and written, in the language:
general expression, expression of feelings, French culture
and civilisation...
Preparation for the examination. The course encourages
the development of the skills needed by students progressing
towards the exam: Grammar, vocabulary, standard of written
and oral expression, knowledge of French culture and civilisation.
It also provides an effective basis for further studies and
a competence in French language and knowledge of French life.
The exam is in two sessions:
1 - Entry for the first 4 units, obtaining of a certificate
approving the language level at this stage (D.E.L.F. 1st
degree).
2 - Entry for the last 2 units, obtaining of the Diplôme
d'Etudes en Langue Française (D.E.L.F. 2nd degree).
REMARK: A unit, which hasn’t been taken or passed,
may be taken or retaken in one of the 50 countries mentioned
above. Entry for unit 5 and 6 presupposes success in unit
1 to 4. Upon receipt of your application we will send you
further details of the examination and a preliminary-test
to assess your knowledge of French. After test correction
we will confirm your enrolment for the course and for the

8 – GAP-YEAR Long- Term Course
25 lessons per week. 6 to 10 students per class (maximum
of 12) (9H00 - 10H40 / 10H55 - 12H15 / 13h15 – 14h00).
September Session: Beginners have the possibility
to do the long-term course by starting with an additional
3 week Intensive Course (see: dates and prices for beginner
starting dates). 6 month course including preparation of DELF
1st degree. This course is starting end of September and is
lasting until end of March. That is to say a duration of 27
weeks with 25 weeks of tuition and 2 weeks of Christmas holiday.
9 month course including preparation of DELF 1st and 2nd degree.
This course is starting end of September and is lasting until
end of June. That is to say a duration of 40 weeks with 37
weeks of tuition, 2 weeks of Christmas holiday and 1 week
of Easter holiday.
January Session: Required level : Lower Intermediate.
6 month course including preparation of DELF 1st degree. This
course is starting the 2nd week of January and is lasting
until end of June. That is to say a duration of 25 weeks with
24 weeks of tuition and 1 week of Easter holiday. This course
is designed to students having finished high school or university
and to anybody disposing of several months to become fluent
in French language. Besides the language, this programme will
let you know cultural, social and economic life in today’s
France. A great number of language aspects and French culture
are developed from the alpha.b student’s book, different
teaching methods for teaching French to foreigners and authentic
documents (newspapers, TV or radio broadcasts). Our teachers
motivate and encourage you and make lessons really lively
and fun. Living in a foreign country means also living amongst
its people and that is why during lessons you will also learn
about civilisation, history, culture, economy and business.
Your oral skill is developed by using debates, opinion polls
and interviews. The written language is developed by using
résumés, commentaries and formal letters. The
course is ending with the D.E.L.F. exam.
